WordWide Language Tutoring Center was created by owner and Director B Rose Anderson in Germany in 1990.  This tutoring and writing bureau came to San Diego with Anderson when she returned home in 1994.  In March 2007, Anderson purchased an ongoing SEVIS-approved school, relocated that school to Ocean Beach and renamed it Word-Wide ESL Institute.  The tutoring center was transformed to teach international languages to US residents.

Based on US military research, the standard of nine students to each native-fluent instructor is maintained in both the English school and the international language tutoring center.  This ratio allows each student to speak and learn directly from the instructor or tutor, so that each one of our students learns quickly and speaks confidently.

In the short time that Anderson has owned Word-Wide ESL Institute, this school has formed a reputation for having graduates that are accepted to US universities and colleges upon their first attempt.

Business people learning at Word-Wide ESL Institute are impressed by the small class sizes and spirit of teaching toward competitive English-speaking environments.

Word-Wide ESL Institute has a proven record of teaching total beginners to college/advanced levels in less than two years.  Word-Wide ESL Institute is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students, so if you’re not yet native-fluent, WordWide can get you there.

In 2009, TESOL International discovered WordWide.  It is a natural partnership.  Now, Word-Wide ESL Institute graduates have another option when they complete their studies:  Students can take the TOEFL and apply to a US community college or university, go into business using English in their home countries or get a TESOL Certificate and teach English around the world.  Please visit www.tesolsandiego.com for more information on how you can travel the world teaching English.

About Ocean Beach, a San Diego Beach Neighborhood

Nicknamed "America's Finest City", San Diego is a real California metropolis.  It is the 17th largest US city, fueled by biotech, the US Navy, ship building, real estate and tourism.

Word-Wide's English as a Second Language (ESL) program combines quality classroom education and real world language immersion through activities, discovery, adventure and everyday life.

We are located four blocks from the beach in a very internationally friendly and environmentally aware beach town.  Sometimes, it's like living in the 60s in this little town in the middle of a big city.

We are located Ocean Beach, because Ocean Beach is still free to the public, and this is a friendly and safe neighborhood.  A public beach means that anyone can use the California Beach Volleyball courts, public parks, bike paths, beach, 24-hour surfing and swimming zones and fire rings for nighttime bonfires.  You don't need a fishing license to fish off the Ocean Beach Municipal Pier.  Ocean Beach surf and swim zones are monitored by California's best lifeguards from about 9 a.m. to sunset every day.

We are just 8 minutes by automobile from the heart of downtown San Diego, the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park's museums.  Two buses take about 30 minutes - one over the Old Town Trolley Station, so we are accessible to anywhere in San Diego.

San Diego has mild weather year-round and is the finest location to experience American language and culture with an expanse of activities.  From sporting events to museums, concerts and restaurants to a variety of natural environments -- everything is within a short distance of our school.

As part of program you will be given the opportunity to experience traditional American holidays, as well as going to a major league baseball game.  Ocean Beach loves our school, and Our Guest Speaker Series brings business people from Ocean Beach into our school to talk with our students.

San Diego offers a wealth of sports, including hosting several international and national sporting events every year. From golf to hang gliding, sailing to 10K races, collegiate and professional, almost any sport can be found close to the San Diego campus of Word-Wide ESL Institute & Word-Wide Language Tutoring Center.

San Diego also has a variety of cultural events, from well-known international recording artist concerts to small art showings. Theater offerings range from opera, small plays to movies of all types. Museums showcase a variety of interests, from art to archaeology, nature to space, surfboards to maritime history.  Restaurants offer not only American food and entertainment but other international cuisine as well.  Concerts at the Embarcadero, Star of India tall ship tours, symphony events and historic sites are some other ways to learn about American culture.
