Word-Wide ESL Institute
WordWide Language Tutoring Center
Word-Wide ESL Institute
is a post-secondary, private academic institution that prides itself on quality instruction and our ability to teach English from beginner through advanced in less than two years using conversational methods and including reading, writing, listening and speaking for the college or business success of every student.
To become a Word-Wide ESL Institute instructor, you must have at least one of the following:
- a bachelor's degree in English or a related field, or
- the equivalent experience of a bachelor's degree in English or a related field and a valid TESOL/TEFL certificate
We will train you if, we think, you are a good match for our teaching style and quality of instruction. If you have no experience -- and sometimes if you do -- you may be required to spend at least 20 hours observing our on-going classes. Then, you will be given the opportunity to do a lesson plan and be observed. If you are hired, there is a 90-day grace period in which we will compare your student evaluations with the administrative comments. At that time, you could be hired and join our team in the best English instruction available in San Diego.
We do not hire easily and do not fire casually. Once you have finished our training and probation and have actually become a Word-Wide ESL Staff Instructor, you will receive the benefits of a teacher-based school.
Instructors who work an average 19 hours per week receive the same benefits prorated as do full-time instructors holding two sessions a day for a total of 38 hours per week. Here's what Word-Wide ESL Instructors get:
- Nine paid Holidays annually.
- Up to a week of sick pay annually beginning in January.
- Bereavement of two weeks per event without losing your position at our school.
- Vacation pay of one week for employees who have worked with us a year or longer.
- At at least three years continual employment, you get two weeks paid vacation leave, and at five years, you get three weeks paid vacation. At seven years, you get four weeks paid vacation.
- As a California private post-secondary school instructor, you are required to increase your knowledge of instruction every three years, and we give you time off to do so without any consequence to your position.
Please see our Employee Handbook for specific information.

Due to the volume of applications WordWide receives, we do not accept electronic submissions of cover letters or resumes. Such an application is ethereal, and we can't keep it on file for when we need a good instructor.
We've contacted good applicants as long as a year after they have applied, so believe us, we'll keep your hard copy application on file.
We do not consider tutoring applicants that do not have the ability to work in the United States.
Thank you.
